When you come of age in Texas, some of the first wines you will try are likely mass-market inexpensive bottles of Texas made wine found on the bottom shelf of the wine aisle at your local H-E-B. Because of this experience, I’ve always been a little skeptical about Texas wine.
As I’ve become more knowledgeable about wine myself, though, I’ve discovered many people who are absolutely passionate about the terroir of Texas, fiercely advocating for Texas wines and winemakers. Because of their encouragement, I decided to keep an open mind and give Texas wines another look.
Lately, I’ve been trying more and more bottles from Texas producers that have been absolutely wowing me. I’m so excited to share several bottles over the next few weeks with you that I really think will expand the way you think about Texas wines.
Have you ever tried a wine from Texas? What did you think?
